Commit here to saving our historic spaces
We, the residents of the City of Los Altos and Bay Area preservationists, are deeply concerned about the taking of protected historic LOS ALTOS HERITAGE ORCHARD land, tree sites and trees in the Civic Center for current and future development projects in and adjacent to this historic working agricultural orchard.
We want our City to protect, maintain and provide adequate resources for our historic orchard. We want our City to meet its historical and environmental obligations to preservation ordinances, and to comply with the requirements of a Certified Local Government. We want our City to continue to recognize that our historic orchard has always and continues to define the semi-rural character that is Los Altos. We want our City to prioritize our historical, environmental and natural resources for now and for future generations. Learn about the 7 Major Impact Zones under construction and consideration at the Civic Center.
This historic resource designation assures that no alteration, changes, trees removed will be made in or adjacent to the Heritage (Civic Center) Orchard without proper survey, EIR and public hearings. - 1991 Quote; Los Altos Historical Commission, at the ceremony designating the Los Altos Heritage Orchard a protected historic resource.
