LOS ALTOS SPEAKS UP -
Hear what YOUR neighbors are saying about the
PROPOSED HILLVIEW COMMUNITY CENTER Project

I believe the scope of this project is outrageous and will forever change the character of the town most people love and moved to Los Altos to enjoy.
Suzanne T  |  North Los Altos

A smaller investment to improve on existing facilities will be better money spent. I object to increased taxes for unnecessary construction.
Paul A  |  North Los Altos

The size and amount of money to be spent on this "community center" is not "scaled-back" as the City states in their education materials.  What other cities have spent this much on a community center?  Why does Los Altos think we need one this large?  This doesn't even include the Library which I feel is important to have and should be updated.
Ruseli O  |  Country Club Area

Have lived in Los Altos for 32 years.  We are retired & on a fixed income.  Additional property taxes would put a real burden on us.  We cannot be the only ones in Los Altos with this problem.  We use the community center every week but $87 million dollars is ridiculous!
M P  |  North Los Altos

This plan does not address all the needs and appears to over-estimate what is really needed. Further, there is clearly conflation of wants with needs, which will not offer the residents a solution worthy of the expense
Debra M  |  Downtown Los Altos.

Stop adding tax after tax, bond after bond, for things you have little
to show for after you load up all the money.
Even for a affluent community this is unjustified
Kianian S  |   Los Altos

The town possess an incredible asset in the land and development potential of this property. I see nothing in the information released by the town to date that demonstrates this valuable land will be used to its full potential for the good of the entire community. The current plan seems forced and poorly conceived.
David J  |   North Los Altos

A poor plan ignoring the needs of the city ---pushed by the loudest stakeholders.
- Pepper Ave
An expensive waste of green space.
-Bonnie H, North Los Altos
This project is too expensive for what is to be built.
--Jill R, North Los Altos

POOLS AND THE CALIFORNIA DROUGHT

Did anyone consider the drought?

And that most people in Los Altos have access to pools.
- Mary Lou N.

This plan is WAY TO EXPENSIVE for the needs of this community.  And I don't want to pay for a pool complex.  No need to build pools and reshuffle existing sports fields.
Panchita Ave  |  Los Altos

The size of the pool complex is way beyond the needs of the community.  Why can't a single pool the size of Eagle Park be built instead?  That way more green space would be preserved.
Howard B  |  North Los Altos

Why are we even talking about including a pool in this expensive facility? In this drought, a pool is the last thing we need. Use the one at the high school.
William H  |  South Los Altos

Voters will not approve the project, particularly the large pool complex that will be used primarily by swim club members and who may be non-residents.  Thereby it is a "community" pool in name only.

PARKs

I agree with you guys completely, especially when it comes to keeping as much open space as possible!
Sally B  |  South Los Altos

I am concerned about the oversized scale of the building, the three pools and the out of town traffic they will bring and the property tax increase. I want a renewed Civic Center yet this plan is embarrassingly off the mark on many levels and particularly when it comes to what residents are asking for: open space and city services.
Hawthorne Ave  |  North Los Altos

This plan takes the "Park" out of Hillivew Park.

Somehow the City thinks building community means community BUILDINGS.
-Kelley P, Downtown
